The Union for Contemporary Art

Event:
Gallery Opening: Wanda Ewing // Growing Up Black Growing Up Wanda

Wanda Ewing in the Wanda D. Ewing Gallery!! Opening Saturday, October 15. We are SO SO excited for this moment . . . For the very first time we’ll be exhibiting the work of the legendary Omaha printmaker whose life and work had such a profound influence on the founding of The Union that we named our gallery in her honor.

Exploring race, beauty, sexuality, and identity, Wanda Ewing’s (1970-2013) art is as relevant today as when she created it. Growing Up Black Growing Up Wanda contains both visual and textual documentation of the obstacles/experiences she encountered as a young woman of color living in Omaha. The unabashed frankness of image and text imbue Wanda’s work with a raw power and freshness that continues to resonate with viewers.
