Lauritzen Gardens

Event:
Bonsai Exhibition

The Nebraska Bonsai Society is dedicated to advancing the art of bonsai throughout the state of Nebraska and surrounding areas. Their mission is to promote and inspire enjoyment in the study of bonsai through practice, education and camaraderie.

Lauritzen Gardens is pleased to host the club's spring exhibition from May 3 through 5, 2024. Because these miniaturized trees behave just like landscape trees, the Nebraska Bonsai Society expects to show off some beautiful blooming specimens.

The exhibition will be housed in the lobby of the visitor and education center, where you can feel the zen behind this ancient living art. Members of the club will be on hand to answer questions and will offer some bonsai materials for sale (cash only).

About the show: The art of bonsai cannot exist without science. For a tree to grow in a pot, it needs soil, water, air and light - in the correct amounts. But, like people or pets, some trees are very adaptable; others are more difficult to please. Members of the Nebraska Bonsai Society love to share their passion for the art of styling trees with others - and can help you better understand both the art and the science of bonsai in Nebraska.

The club meets monthly and attendees range from beginners to life-long bonsai practitioners. Each "study group" meeting starts with an educational program, followed by time to work on trees with the help of mentors and other members.  Visit nebonsai.org to learn more about the club.

Admission to the exhibition is included with paid garden admission of $15+tax/adults, $9+tax/children 3 to 12 and FREE for garden members and children under three.
