Volunteer Voices: Deb, Fusion
For this episode of Volunteer Voices, I wanted to hear from Deb, a member of the Fusion team, about how she volunteers personally and professionally.
Deb shares that we all have a part to play in local volunteerism.

We believe in the power of community and the impact of volunteerism. Our community’s volunteers are the heart and soul of the nonprofits in our region. Their dedication and passion is something you need to see to believe! Today we shine a spotlight on some of the amazing volunteers who help make the metro better every day. These are just a few of the incredible volunteers we’ve heard about lately who are making a difference:
Tune in to this episode of Volunteer Voices, to hear from Melissa, a member of the Fusion team, about how she has started a volunteering tradition with her co-workers!
I was curious, what is it like to help with a school show at The Rose Theater? My son has a field trip scheduled for next month and I could just imagine how many hands it takes to keep the theater from descending into pure chaos. Last week, I gave two hours of my time as a school show usher and got to see the magic first hand.
One thing stands out to me about Carl, a Do Space Cyber Seniors volunteer. Carl creates community.
Throughout the stories Carl shared with me about his younger years to his community service as a retiree, there was common thread. Carl looks for opportunities to connect with others and foster belonging.
For this episode of Volunteer Voices, I wanted to hear from Jessica, a member of the Fusion team, about how she volunteers personally and professionally, and why. Her three "whys" are worth a listen or read below.
Madeline, age 16, shared with us: "I feel very strongly about volunteering. Kindness is the most powerful thing keeping our world, our community together."
"What is more precious to give than your time, your energy, your care?"
Hear, hear, Madeline!
Hear our conversation with Madeline about the ways she volunteers:
The Nebraska Afghan Community Center (NACC) works to build a unified, educated, and self-sufficient Afghan community in Nebraska. NACC was founded by a group of former military combat interpreters after the fall of the Afghan government in August 2021. They provide a variety of basic social services and recreation opportunities to the community.
"For me, volunteering has given me a chance to be a part of something bigger than myself. I feel supported and I can also support other people. It's really important during these times of division and separation, that we find these communities, within the bigger Omaha community, that we find those people that support us and make us feel a part of something," shared Martha, Omaha Girls Rock volunteer.
Ronald McDonald House Charities in Omaha (RMHC) provides a safe and caring home-away-from-home for families of children receiving treatment in Omaha-area medical facilities. Families are stronger when together, and this is never more important than when a child is sick or injured.
RMHC serves an average of 165 families per year and on a nightly basis, almost 40 guests eat dinner in their Home.
We have so much great news to share from our nonprofit partners about their amazing work. But, we'd love to hear from you. Let us know if you have stories you'd like to tell and we'll make you a guest blogger!!
