Small Animal Ambassadors come out to the rescue and spend time in the small animal room socializing the bunnies, guinea pigs, rats, etc. Most small animals are prey animals, so it's important to maintain and foster socialization in these little guys. Small Animal Ambassadors learn the characters of each animal, whether they like other animals of the same species, whether the like to be handled, if they are timid or confident, etc. They then share those observations with potential adopters visiting the shelter. They help the potential adopters find the right small animal for their family and situation. We would like the Ambassadors to come and spend at least an hour in the small animal room after cleaning is complete, which is usually in around 2:00 in the afternoon. The room is a bit small and there's not enough room to snuggle and play with animals while cleaning is taking lace. Weekend business hours bring the highest traffic, but you are welcome any business day.
