Running for Refugees: A 5k Virtual Run/Walk

The journey to safety for refugees lasts many years and covers hundreds or thousands of miles. To bring visibility to this journey and World Refugee Day on June 20, we have created the first annual virtual 5K run/walk: Running for Refugees. We hope you will join us!

The Refugee Empowerment Center has been resettling refugees from across the globe for over 20 years. We focus on helping our clients live and work productively, further their education and achieve a better life for themselves and their children. In 2019, REC resettled 114 refugees. Due to the pandemic, we have focused on providing education and resources to help the refugee community navigate the changing Covid-19 environment and, most recently, the vaccine.

When: June 19th - 20th - You can run anytime, but we’re highlighting World Refugee Day on June 19th.

Cost: $35 and will help refugees thrive in Omaha
