Plastic-Free Restaurants Campaign

Volunteer to help the Green Omaha Coalition (GOC), a nonprofit organization that promotes a greener Omaha through collaboration, education, and advocacy.

COVID-19 and social distancing have meant that A LOT more people are ordering takeout and delivery from restaurants - and this trend is unlikely to slow down. These food service options generally translate to a lot of plastic packaging waste that is either one-time use or even zero-use plastics. And the GOC would like to work on changing that!

We are putting a group of volunteers together for this project to develop an awareness and education campaign around restaurant packaging waste. We will be starting work this spring and going through the summer. We are currently at the beginning stages of conceptualization, so there are opportunities to jump in on various stages whether you’re interested in gathering surveys from restaurants, helping design and implement the program, writing grants for funding, or marketing and promoting once complete. If you’re passionate about zero waste and becoming a more plastic-free and responsible community, message us to find out how you can help or fill out a volunteer form in the link below:
