This summer, Omaha by Design will host an inaugural citywide event called Open Omaha to celebrate the fascinating spaces that make up the Greater Omaha metro. Inspired by similar concepts in cities like Denver, Minneapolis, and Chicago, we are excited to introduce this free event to our metro August 6th and 7th, 2022.

Spread across up to 50 carefully chosen sites, we expect to welcome 5,000+ visitors in this behind-the-scenes look at many of the Omaha metro’s most captivating places and spaces. Through Open Omaha, we aim to:

Open doors to the metro’s diverse neighborhoods, businesses, cultural institutions, and historic resources – encouraging exploration throughout the city

Open minds of all ages and backgrounds to the broad array of possibilities and opportunities that exist in our metro – inspiring future leaders and innovators

Open conversations about the “the city we shape” – inspiring civic engagement and collaborative efforts to further strengthen our community in planning and design
