What We Do
Strength Behind the Blue aims to be a positive voice of law enforcement through workshops, scholarships, charity drives, and community service work.
Our organization was formed in the wake of tragedy. On May 20, 2015 Omaha Police Officer Kerrie Orozco was killed in the line of duty. When we did not have anywhere to go, we came together to grieve, heal, and support each other. Our mission as an organization is to "Kerrie On" with the strength and determination she had.
Our goal is to help bridge the gap between the police and the communities they serve. We meet our goals by volunteering in the community, supporting law enforcement agencies across the country, and setting positive examples for the youth in our city.
Another part of our mission is be a source of support for Law Enforcement Officers and their families. We do this through our SBTB LEO Scholarship Program, our Healthy Homes for Heroes Program, and our Weekly Card Campaign that sends a card of sympathy to each and every agency across the country that suffers a loss of an officer. We also hold fundraisers for officers in need.
