What We Do

The Refugee Empowerment Center provides educational and direct services to refugees. Our staff are former refugees who provide intensive case management and support services to current and newly arrived refugees. Our programming goals are to ensure refugees become self-sufficient and integrate successfully. REC has a 92% success rate in assisting refugees with becoming employed. Our programs include job readiness and placement, three levels of ELL classes, behavioral health support and driver's education.

Interesting Info

We were established in 1997 by Sudanese refugees.
Over 90% of our staff are former refugees and have helped over 4000 refugees begin new lives in Omaha.
We are an affiliate of the Ethiopian Community Development Council.
