What We Do
Nebraska Shakespeare is a professional performing arts organization, now celebrating 35 years! Our FREE summer SHAKESPEARE ON THE GREEN offers residents and tourists the opportunity to see live, professional, fully-staged, theatrical productions of Shakespeare's works. Our FALL TOUR, a 90-minute version of a Shakespeare play - performed by professional actors from throughout the country - tours schools and community venues throughout the State of Nebraska from September through November. With a new, bold and exciting 10- year vision, Nebraska Shakespeare is about to embark on a period of substantial growth that includes expanded performances, a deeper commitment to education and a renewed focus on expanding accessibility throughout the State of Nebraska...and beyond!
Nebraska Shakespeare believes that Shakespeare’s works are vital and dynamic in broadening the cultural and educational environments of our community. We strive to produce innovative, professional Shakespeare productions and educational opportunities for all audiences, throughout Nebraska and beyond.
Our vision is to find ways to make Shakespeare a part of our society beyond the literature and drama classrooms and, for this reason, we provide opportunities for continued interaction and learning about the bard that are both free and accessible to a diverse audience.
We are focused on delivering experiences that are true to the text and intent of Shakespeare while creatively and dynamically relevant to contemporary life. Our success is achieved through collaboration with Creighton University, University of Nebraska at Omaha, the City of Omaha, generous benefactors, talented artists, seasoned staff and 200+ dedicated volunteers.
