What We Do
Nebraska Family Support Network (NFSN) is a family run organization promoting awareness of children’s mental health issues and ensuring that parents/youth have a voice in the systems that impact them. We are unique in that our primary qualification for service provision is our lived experience. We started as a grassroots gathering of parents who joined together around the recognition that families with children struggling with emotional/mental/behavioral health issues were being excluded from meaningfully participating in their child’s treatment or plan of care.  All leadership and direct service staff have supported a child in one or more of Nebraska’s child/family service systems. In addition to lived experience, staff are well trained in a range of topics related to helping families/youth and are either Nationally or State Certified as Peer Support Providers.
Interesting Info
  • Last year NFSN provided direct support to 431 families, participated in 144 diversion hearings to support parents/youth and served 87 youth in youth workshops.
  • The National Survey of Children's Health estimates that 39,080 children in Nebraska have mental or behavioral health conditions needing treatment.
  • Our goal is to inspire parents and youth to become knowledgeable about their own potential and options.
