What We Do

The ISD Foundation enhances opportunities for student success through the education, engagement, and philanthropy of our communities. The ISD Foundation envisions a community where all students who are deaf or hard of hearing can be successful and independent.

The Foundation provides services and equipment for students that can not be obtained through state appropriations. Through private donations, the foundation has built the Lied Multipurpose Complex, Greenhouse, created the Science Center, and purchased two playgrounds.

This 501c3 organization supports the needs of Iowa School for the Deaf students as they work toward the independence of our students. Scholarships, program equipment, and the ISD Museum are some of the active projects supported through the ISD Foundation.

For more than 160 years, Iowa School for the Deaf has been preparing its students for the working and learning world. Nebraska and Iowa students, preschool - 12th grade and transition age, find their sense of belonging, confidence and pride in this school and campus environment.

Interesting Info
  • After 5 years of exiting the 4PLUS transition program, 80% of ISD students are still working.
  • All services are free to families. We've been here more than 160 years!
  • We want all families with deaf or hard of hearing children to experience the range of services we provide- even if their child is not enrolled with ISD.
