With offices located in Council Bluffs and Walnut, Iowa the agency serves both urban and rural communities.
Raise Me to Read, a program of FAMILY, is a community based campaign that supports literacy and early learning for every child across Pottawattamie County, Iowa. The initiative emphasizes the critical focus areas of school readiness, school attendance and summer learning. Our three goals are to engage and educate the community on the importance of reading and early childhood literacy; to have students enter kindergarten ready to learn; and to have all students read proficiently by third grade. This work involves the health industry, business and faith communities, non-profit sector, governmental entities, schools, early childhood providers and most importantly, parents and caregivers of our children.
- Over the past 27 years FAMILY, Inc. has provided over 95,000 home visits in Pottawattamie County.
- Over the past 27 years FAMILY's I-Smile program has provided nearly 8,700 in-school dental screenings with the I-Smile @ school program
- 30% of children in Pottawattamie County cannot read at grade level by the end of 3rd grade. We want EVERY CHILD to read proficiently by the end of 3rd grade!
