What We Do

We never met a document we didn't like! We collect, preserve and interpret materials documenting the lives of Danish immigrants and their descendants from the late 19th to the 21st century.

The Danish American Archive and Library’s vast holdings consist of documents, books, photographs and periodicals addressing many aspects of Danish American life including, but not limited to, letters and family history, music, organizations, business and industry, religion, culture and education.

Interesting Info

We attract scholars, interns, genealogists, volunteers and visitors from the United States, Denmark, Canada, and other international locations.
We house over 14,000 books and over 1,400 cubic feet of personal letters, diaries, photos and a wide variety of other documents.
Our goal is to become a premier national repository for materials relating to the Danish American experience.
