Volunteer Opportunity:
Snow removal for Elder Adults

This opportunity has passed.

Snow removal is such an important service for the older adults in our community.  Snowfall creates hazards, (especially if it gets packed down and icy) for older adults, their caregivers and those who bring services directly to their homes: Meals on Wheels delivery/other food deliveries, home care providers, transportation services, mail carriers, etc.  It becomes difficult for older adult to get out for necessary medical/other appointments.  City ordinances can assess fines for public areas that are not shoveled. The cost of snow removal is frequently out of reach for many on a fixed income and they struggle to find reliable help they can afford. The SeniorHelp Volunteer Program is looking to prevent these hazards and barriers by enrolling volunteers to help remove snow for older adults in our community.  Volunteers are preferably assigned to a resident for the season but can also be "on call" for larger storms.
