Lawn Mowing for Elders
The SeniorHelp Volunteer Program is looking to enroll volunteers to help elders in our community this summer with lawn mowing. Lawn mowing is such an important service for the older adults in our community. Overgrown lawns can result in complaints, citations/fines and even crimes when it looks as though no one is able to maintain the home or lives in the home. It causes great anxiety for older adults who understand these issues and have few resources to get the job done.
Volunteers are assigned to a resident for the season. I Many cases the resident does not have a working mower so it helps if volunteers can bring a mower. We serve some of the most vulnerable in our community. Volunteers complete an application, enrollment/screening and brief orientation before being assigned to help an elder resident.
