The Green Omaha Coalition (GOC) is looking for engaged board members to be part of leading our small organization. If you are passionate about sustainability and serving the Omaha metro community, and would like to share and develop your professional skills, consider joining the GOC board! Applicants with experience in fundraising, advocacy / public policy, human resources, strategic planning, and communications will be prioritized. The GOC is a nonprofit organization with a mission to promote a greener Omaha through collaboration, education, and advocacy. We serve the Greater Omaha Nebraska metropolitan area, including Douglas, Sarpy, Washington, Pottawattamie, and Mills counties. The GOC acts as a resource to local government, businesses, educators, and citizens. We foster collaboration with key stakeholders in the community to accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices, policies, and programs. We also host fun and informative events that inspire the public to connect with other organizations that do sustainability work and live a more sustainable lifestyle. GOC board members are responsible for: • Contributing to the strategic direction of the organization • Ensuring the financial health of the organization • Holding the executive director (ED) accountable for organizational success, including termination and/or refilling the position when necessary • Obtaining resources to support the mission • Maintaining consistency between policies and the mission • Collaborate with the ED to develop administrative and operational processes • Participating in committees to develop programs that support organizational strategies • Serving as a point of contact for members and partners • Positively representing the organization and its mission to the public If you are interested in applying to become a board member, learn more and fill out our application on http://bit.ly/goc-board-app
