Board Member

Omaha Permaculture is looking to fill a position on our Board of Directors. This is a non-paid volunteer position which requires a time commitment of approximately two hours each month. The board meets bi-monthly (for two hours) to handle board business and keep abreast of what is happening in the organization.
During the off-meeting months, board members spend their volunteer time in a variety of ways including fundraising, grant writing, process improvement, or helping with Operations. We are currently seeking a candidate with a passion for environmental sustainability and with strong organizational skills. Who we are: Omaha Permaculture is a 501c nonprofit whose mission is to foster community through sustainable land stewardship. We envision cities teeming with permaculture gardens where neighbors gather to harvest organic food, build relationships, and learn about the natural world. We strive to transform previously vacant lots into hubs for environmental restoration and community pride.

All members of the Omaha Permaculture Board of Directors are responsible for:
Supporting and promoting OP’s mission and vision
Helping drive and create strategic priorities
Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management of the organization
Fundraising and resource development
Recruiting and onboarding new board members
Oversight of Executive Director
Preparing for, regularly attending, and conscientiously participating in bi-monthly board meetings as well as annual strategic planning meeting
Adhering to OP’s bylaws, policies and board resolutions

The strongest candidates will:
Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the OP
Leverage connections, networks and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve OP’s mission
Participate in and/or lead at least one organization committee
Keep abreast of different committee matters as well as the operational activities of the organization by reviewing board documents including, but not limited to, bylaws and meeting notes
Be proficient in written, verbal, and email communication as well as Google Drive
