Become a Community-Based Mentor (currently virtual due to COVID-19)

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands: Start the process at home virtually --> transition to in-person meetings when the pandemic has ended.

Now more than ever, young people need friendly and supportive mentors during this scary and confusing period. Community-Based Mentoring matches usually meet in-person at varying locations and times. Due to COVID-19, all matches are encouraged to meet virtually until further notice.

Commitment:
- ALL mentors must commit to at least *ONE YEAR*
- 2 outings per month (total of 4 hours per month)
- **Mentors must have ability to meet in-person once COVID-19 social distancing ends.**

The Scoop:
- Matched with youth (aged 7-14) based on location, interests, and expectations.
- Explore the community - get a bite to eat, learn a skill, enjoy a hobby.
- A Match Support Specialist will check in with you regularly to coach and help as needed.
- Totally free! Matches get discounts at local businesses and have exclusive invitations to our own events.

Eligibility:
- At least 19 years or older
- Valid driver's license, car insurance, access to transportation
- Undergo a background and reference check (prior offenses are not an automatic disqualifier, ask us if you have questions).
