Annual Climb Higher Luncheon

We invite you to join us in supporting the Omaha Outward Bound School, a program of the
NorthStar Foundation, at the 10th Annual Climb Higher Luncheon on October 19th, 2021 at
the CHI Health Center.

We are excited to welcome Antwone Fisher, author of two New York Times bestsellers, Finding
Fish: A Memoir, and Who Will Cry For The Little Boy, a collection of poetry. Fisher was the
screenwriter for 2002’s Antwone Fisher, directed by Denzel Washington. As a child, Fisher grew
up in the Ohio foster care system where he suffered from abuse for twelve years. Upon
graduating high school, he entered the United States Navy, serving for eleven years. After his
honorable discharge, Fisher became a Federal correctional officer and then took a job as a
security officer with Sony Pictures. His career took a sharp turn after taking a screenwriting
class in Los Angeles. Fisher’s third book, A Boy Should Know How to Tie a Tie won the 2011
award for Best Literary Work – Instructional from the NAACP.

As a sponsor for the 10th Annual Climb Higher Event, you will help ensure access to
transformative learning and discovery experiences for Omaha’s most under-resourced and
underserved students. Since 2010 more than 13,000 students have participated in Omaha
Outward Bound School programs designed to instill resilience, perseverance, and compassion,
through in-school and after-school programs and on summer leadership expeditions. In 2018
alone the Omaha Outward Bound School engaged over 2,500 students including each and every
boy served at NorthStar, along with students from partner schools and other youth-serving
nonprofits. For the majority of these students, over 90%, participation in Outward Bound
programming was made possible through generous charitable contributions.
