Are You Compassionate, Welcoming & Reassuring? Are You Looking For a Way to Give Back?

At Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital we value our volunteers. Both our Adult and Teen volunteers serve Methodist hospital seven days a week by providing support that supplements the hospital services. Volunteers add to the quality of the services we provide for our patients, their families and the community. Jennie volunteers have given selflessly of their time and service creating a culture where compassion and excellence come together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those they serve.

Teen Volunteers
The Teen Volunteers at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital have completed more than 12,500 hours of community service, which is roughly equivalent to six years of paid working time. They are a very vital part of the hospital's everyday function.

Methodist Jennie Edmundson is one of the few hospitals allowing Teen Volunteers to actually have patient contact without adult supervision. This is a privilege that we are proud of and we continue to work very hard to maintain. While working on the floors, teens are responsible for charting the amount of water that the patient consumes before refilling the pitcher, visiting with patients, escorting patients to various parts of the hospital, running errands and helping the nurses. Other duties of a Teen Volunteer include working at the Information Desks, answering phones, directing visitors, stocking the cooler in the Gift Shop, and delivering newspapers to patients, guests, and employees.

Teen volunteers will not be asked to perform any nursing duties.
The Teen Volunteer Program also provides leadership opportunities as well as fundraising, public relations, human resources and creative design experience. The program helps teens learn new skills and gain the responsibility and accountability that they will need to be successful. Teens participate in team building activities and are eligible for scholarship opportunities.
